Measure Q

Voting for  Measure Q will be a giant step back in time and a step away from  Common Sense.  Did you know that when Windsor passed the original competitive bid ordinance back in the mid 1990's, that Windsor become the first community in the country to overturn by initiative an approved garbage extension.  I was vice chair off the citizen's group "Citizen's For A Better Windsor" that insured competitive bidding in Windsor.  I collected signatures walking through Shamrock mobile park of residents.  At the time Shamrock residents were required to have the biggest can.  With bidding, now residents can choose between 3 sizes of cans.  After Windsor, competitive bidding swept the County.  Voting to repel competitive bidding makes no common sense.  Why would you want to do that?  Read More

TYPING

As you can probably tell, typing is one of the issues that I feel very Strongly about.  As my son and daughter confided to me, there is nothing that a student will learn at Brooks that will benefit them than learning how to type properly.  The reason is simply.

Almost all the major projects that are turned in when the kids WMS and WHS are expected to be typed.   By the WUSD not doing its job in teaching students such a basic, necessary tool in typing, the district can turn a difficult project in an agonizing, I  hate this project.  It's kind of like trying to become good at algebra, without memorizing your adding and multiplication tables.  The District is self inflicting unhappy kids upon Staff because the District stopped typing classes.

Assistant Principals (Deans), Assistant Superintendent's, Grant Writers, Student Advisor's and Counselor's for Mattie and Brooks, additional secretaries are all luxury items, while is life-time benefit that for students is not a luxury, but a basic need for students.

Almost all other school district's teach typing before the kids advance to Middle School.  Windsor has to place student needs before more administrative needs.
